If you’re looking to make some energy-efficient home improvements, this weekend is the weekend to act on those impulses. The state of Texas is once again holding its Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday on qualifying home appliances.
To qualify, the products listed below must carry the Energy Star seal, which means they meet strict efficiency guidelines determined by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. If they have that, you won’t pay sales tax over the three-day weekend. There are even a few appliances that apply to your home’s water use:
- Clothes washers
- Refrigerators that cost $2,000 or less
- Air conditioners that cost $6,000 or less
- Ceiling fans
- Energy-efficient light bulbs
- Programmable thermostats
The sales tax holiday begins Saturday at 12:01 a.m. and runs through 11:59 p.m. Monday.
