Making Resolutions? Try Community Service!
December 27, 2013It’s fairly common for someone to take a look at his or her life and set new goals for the upcoming year. With 2014 just a few days away, we realize many of you may be making your list of resolutions as we speak. So we here at Kinetico San Antonio would like to encourage you to add community service to the list of possibilities. Need some help? Here are just a few of our favorite organizations to support, volunteer or contribute to.
Ways to Volunteer
1. Your local church
As we’ve shared multiple times here on our blog, Kinetico San Antonio owners Chris and Shay Knippa are heavily involved in mission work through their church, St. John Lutheran in Boerne. Just this past year, they’ve traveled to Uganda, Honduras and tornado-ravaged areas of Oklahoma. There are plenty of churches in our area that also do great work in areas that really need help.
2. Uganda Tree of Life Ministries
One of the mission trips we referenced was to Uganda through the Uganda Tree of Life Ministries. This organization helps millions of orphans with health, home and education in Uganda.
3. Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner
Kinetico San Antonio is also really honored to be able to help solve some of the bottled water needs at the annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner here in San Antonio, which feeds 25,000 of our city’s seniors and less fortunate. The dinner is always looking for volunteers, whether it’s cooking before the dinner or serving on Thanksgiving Day.
4. Your local school
Do you own a business? Look for a way to use your speciality to help a school in your area. Not a business owner? Volunteer for mentoring or other programs that can help kids right here in San Antonio.
Hope our little list provides a bit of inspiration for the new year. Let’s get 2014 off on the right foot!
