What’s in Your Bottled Water?

January 7, 2013

Bottled water is a popular purchase. Around 41 billion gallons of bottled water are consumed every year. When you buy a bottle of water, you probably believe you’re getting the pure, crisp and clean water the label promises. But what are you actually drinking?

According to the Environmental Working Group, PepsiCo admitted in June of 2007 to filling Aquafina bottles with public water and not the spring water that the label suggested. Also, Sam’s Choice bottled water by Wal-Mart was found to be using Las Vegas tap water as its source.

While the EPA regulates tap water, the FDA regulates bottled drinking water and allows certain amounts of several contaminants in drinking water.

A short list of contaminants that could be in your bottled water:

  • Coliform
  • Arsenic
  • Chloride
  • Iron
  • Manganese
  • Phenols
  • Dissolved Solids
  • Zinc
  • Fluoride

Pesticides, radioactive materials and disinfectants are also allowed in certain amounts. So when you see the long line of 0% notifications down the ingredient list on your water, it doesn’t mean what you’re drinking is pure. The Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station is guaranteed to remove more contaminants than any other product through reverse osmosis and several filters. If you want to be sure that it’s pure, go with Kinetico San Antonio drinking water systems.

We're very glad we got this installed. The technician, Alberto, was very polite and thoroughly explained what he was doing and what we would need to do.

Alberto kept me informed on his arrival time. He was professional and exceeded my expectations concerning the install of the water filtration system. I also need to put a plug in for Tracy for her patience and skills at making things happen behind the scenes...a true unsung hero. They both deserve a raise!

I just had my system installed by Alberto and Jay, and I wanted to say that they rocked. Got it all in and gave me some instructions to follow, all while being determined to detail and professional. Thanks, fellas.
