This Weekend: Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday
May 23, 2013
If you’re looking to make some energy-efficient home improvements, this weekend is the weekend to act on those impulses. The state of Texas is once again holding its Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday on qualifying home appliances.
To qualify, the products listed below must carry the Energy Star seal, which means they meet strict efficiency guidelines determined by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. If they have that, you won’t pay sales tax over the three-day weekend.
A few appliances that apply to your home’s water use:
- Clothes washers
- Dishwashers
- Refrigerators that cost $2,000 or less
- Air conditioners that cost $6,000 or less
- Ceiling fans
- Energy-efficient light bulbs
- Dehumidifiers
- Programmable thermostats
The sales tax holiday begins Saturday at 12:01 a.m. and runs through 11:59 p.m. Monday.

We're very glad we got this installed. The technician, Alberto, was very polite and thoroughly explained what he was doing and what we would need to do.

Alberto kept me informed on his arrival time. He was professional and exceeded my expectations concerning the install of the water filtration system. I also need to put a plug in for Tracy for her patience and skills at making things happen behind the scenes...a true unsung hero. They both deserve a raise!

I just had my system installed by Alberto and Jay, and I wanted to say that they rocked. Got it all in and gave me some instructions to follow, all while being determined to detail and professional. Thanks, fellas.
