San Antonio and Hard Water

The Limestone Problem

You hear all the time that our area has some of the hardest water in the country. We’ve written about it frequently here on the Kinetico San Antonio blog. And it’s why it’s so important to have water softeners in San Antonio.

As we’ve explained in the past, the reason behind the hard water here is the limestone in the Edwards Aquifer.

Here’s a map from the U.S. Geological Survey that shows water hardness. The red parts of the map have the hardest water. You’ll notice a lot of red around San Antonio and the Hill Country. So it really is no joke that San Antonio has some of the water in the country.
