Five Myths About Water SoftenersJune 8, 2014
Common Water Softener Myths
Myth #1: I don’t have hard water in my home. Statistically speaking, there’s a good chance this isn’t the case. About 85% of the country has hard water. Here’s why: The water that comes into your house travels through plumbing and picks up minerals along the way – mainly calcium and magnesium. These minerals dissolve in your water and cause it to become “hard.” Different parts of the country have varying levels of hardness because of water sources, so it’s always good advice to get a water test performed to make sure your new water softener will handle your needs.
Myth #2: Soft water makes my skin feel like there’s a film on it. The opposite is actually true in this case. With soft water, you do have a silky feeling when you get out of the shower. That’s because your body’s natural moisturizing oils are finally working properly.
Myth #3: Water softeners are too expensive to use. Your Kinetico water softener should actually save you money. Your heating bills will go down, and you’ll use less in laundry detergents and soaps. And don’t forget – your Kinetico softener doesn’t run on electricity.
Myth #4: All water tastes the same. A lot of households get drinking water straight from the tap. If that water is hard, however, you’ll notice a taste difference. Soft water is not only more refreshing, but it tastes better as well. It’s also better for your teeth.
Myth #5: Hard water will harm my health. Let’s be clear. Hard water is not hurting your health. But it can cause some serious damage to your home’s plumbing and pipes. Those minerals in the water cause limescale build-up, which can lead to costly repairs down the road.

We're very glad we got this installed. The technician, Alberto, was very polite and thoroughly explained what he was doing and what we would need to do.
Alberto kept me informed on his arrival time. He was professional and exceeded my expectations concerning the install of the water filtration system. I also need to put a plug in for Tracy for her patience and skills at making things happen behind the scenes...a true unsung hero. They both deserve a raise!
I just had my system installed by Alberto and Jay, and I wanted to say that they rocked. Got it all in and gave me some instructions to follow, all while being determined to detail and professional. Thanks, fellas.
