Bottled Water vs Tap Water
February 20, 2018Since the beginning of time, there have been rivals. Cane vs Abel, Coca-Cola vs Pepsi, and, especially here in Texas, BBQ sauce vs no BBQ sauce. The rival between tap and bottled water is no exception. So we’ve provided some differences of bottled water vs tap water.
Bottled water is what a majority of people use for their water intake, and it has plenty of conveniences for consumers. It’s ready for you to take with you out the door. Once you’re done with water bottle, you recycle it and you don’t have to worry about carrying it around. In that same respect, bottled water is low maintenance. You don’t have to wash them or keep track of them, because they’re disposable. On the flip side, not everyone recycles – so bottled water has environmental concerns. It produces a ton of waste that often ends up in our rivers and lakes.
Tap water is the less popular option when it comes to drinking water sources. However, the bad rep tap water gets isn’t necessarily earned. If you have a quality drinking water system, like the Kinetico K5, tap water is a fantastic option as a source for your drinking water. The initial investment in a drinking water system will pay for itself after a couple months of use. Buying water bottles gets expensive and is a waste of plastic. Even if you recycle your water bottles, avoiding the purchase of them is more conservative than buying them and recycling.
In addition to conservation and price, drinking tap water can potentially save you from harmful chemicals that come along with bottled water. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, over 1,000 bottles of 103 different water brands were tested positive for bacterial and chemical contaminants, including carcinogens that cause cancer.
Water is essential for life, so doing some research about where your water is coming from is a good idea. Weighing the pros and cons of each water source is important to do before you commit one way or another.
