The Surprising Way to Fight Dry Skin
November 10, 2016Try this simple tip to keep your skin hydrated.
Winter is coming, and, as much as we would like to think we are prepared, Game of Thrones did not warn us about dry skin. As the weather gets cooler, our cheeks become red and our skin dries out. It’s about to be that time of year when we are constantly wondering why we did not pack lip balm that morning.
Luckily, the solution to dry skin is simpler than you think. You do not need to spend loads of money on moisturizing products or face masks. In fact, this product is found right in the comfort of your own home. That’s right, it is water. One of the many benefits of drinking water is the key to fighting dry skin.
By drinking water, your cells are receiving the nutrients they need to stay hydrated. Think of your cells as water balloons. When they are filled and plump, your skin will look firmer. When cells are receiving all these nutrients they will be able to withstand the cold and stay hydrated. Drinking water will also increase blood flow to your skin and keep your skin density up and the dryness away.
Dry skin can also result from poor diet. Certain foods and acids consumed can affect how dry one’s skin is. Drinking a glass of water can help control diet. Drink one glass of water before each meal. This will replace the thirst that is often mistaken as hunger.
In order to stay hydrated, pace yourself throughout the day. Your body does need a lot of water, but that does not mean you should drink a bunch in the morning then call it a day. Your body can only absorb a certain amount of water every hour. Try to get in about 10 eight-ounce servings though out your day. Stay hydrated this winter and fight off dry skin by drinking that water!
